this print date. Ran away at 15 or 16. Worked on a river boat. At one time
stole a pair of shoes. After he found out they were too small he returned
them & due to his honesty was given a pair that fit. One night while asleep
on his boat he put his shoes under his head to keep them safe from theives,
when he awoke they were gone. In 1895 & 1896 he was in Little Rock as coductor
