Lucius Julius Caesar I
(280 BC - )
Lucius Julius Caesar I, a Tribunus Militum (about 250 BCE). He belonged to an ancient Roman family that traced its descent from Aeneas of Troy, son of the goddess Venus, who fled that city when it fell. Aeneas' son Ascanius, called Iulus, was supposed to have been the ancestor of Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome. The name "Caesar" means a hairy head or an elephant.
