He sanctioned practice of the Jewish religion in Jerusalem 0458 B.C. He put down a rebellion in Bactria, and a more serious one in Egypt 0460-0454 B.C. He was the 4th ruler of the 27th Dynasty of Egypt 0465 B.C. He was raised to the throne by the commander of the guard, Artabanus, who had murdered Xerxes, and a few months later slew Artabanus in a hand-to-hand fight.
