Second Trial Results in Verdict Against Pennsylvania Railroad
Second trial of the suit of Joseph Fairburn, of 3579 Tulip street, against the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, to recover damages for the loss of his right leg, which had to be amputated after being crushed under a locomotive near Tioga and Tulip streets about eight years ago, yesterday resulted in a verdict for $3500 in favor of the plaintiff, before Judge Davis, in Common Pleas Court No. 3.
At the time of his accident, Fairburn was only about 14 years old. His father, Joseph Fairburn, Sr., who was a party to the suit was awarded $750 for the loss of his son's services due to his crippled condition.
