Probate

Joshua Holt revised his will 24 May 1807 in response to “great alterations” that had taken place in his family.  Perhaps these“great alterations” related to the death of his wife Phebe in 1806.  Four sons, John, Joshua, Timothy, and Stephen, each receive $40.  Son Peter receives $110.  Each of his daughters receive $33.34.  These daughters are Phebe the wife of Joseph Batchelder, Mary the wife of Isaac Foster, Abiah the wife of Deacon Daniel Kimbal, Hannah the wife of Ephraim Holt, and Chloe the wife of Francis Bowen.  The daughters also receive all the household goods and furniture.  Son Samuel receives all the lands and buildings that Joshua still holds at the time as his death as well as his pew in the meeting house.  His six sons will divide his wearing apparel, although Solomon is free to select what items he wants. Solomon is named sole executor.
