Fern attended Peru Normal at Peru, NE. For many years she gave piano l e s sons. She was a long-time member of the Mary Martha Circle at First C h r istian Church in Auburn. Fern contracted cancer, but had managed t o r e main active most of the time since then. On June 6, 1982 she was s ev e rely burned at her home on the farm and was taken to St. Elizabeth H o s pital in Lincoln where she died the next day.
