Goldie was an invalid most of her life. Her obituary states that she d i e d at the age of 28 years after many years of ill health. "Stricken a t t h e age of 14 with an affliction from which she never recovered, Gold ie w a s a patient sufferer.....Several years ago in the hopes of restori ng h e r eyesight, she underwent an operation at the same hospital where d ea t h came to her (Lord Lister Hospital in Omaha).....Just before her la s t v isit to the hospital she was the recipient of her third teacher tra i n ing certificate.....She was a member of the Farmers Co-operative and E d u cation Union and upon many different occasions assisted in both local a n d c ounty programs, where she sang with much fervor the songs she had c o m mitted to memory."
