Bunker Hill in the 1890s, has been desc r i bed in Jim Miller's book,Greensburg PA: The Other Side of the Tracks ( 2 0 03), as follows: P. 48 "Therewas once a very wild, notorious tave r n a t the top of PittsburghSt., just where West Newton St. takes off. T h i s place was known as abawdy, raucous place where all kinds of fights h a p pened. There were attimes fights with gaming birds, or whatever they c o u ld persuade to fight.At times there were fights with drunken men, wel l , I t hink you get thepicture. The area was called Bunker Hill, as the i m pr ession was sometimesgiven that the Battle of Bunker Hill was being r e s taged there."
