He married Ann Phillips in February 1835 a nd d u ring their life in Ohio, they were blessed with twelve children. J ose p h Redfern was a teacher and the superintendent of the Methodist Epi sc o pal Church Sunday School for almost 50 years. He lived to be 95 year s o f a ge.
