Don D. Olson of rural McCook died at his home on June 14, 2010.
He was born March 20, 1928 in Hitchcock County to Axel Olson and Ellen (Jacobs) Olson. He attended school in Culbertson and graduated from high school there in 1946. He also attended McCook Community College.
He was married to Bertha (Babs) Kalinski on August 21, 1949. They had two sons, Don J. and Randy M.
Don served in the Army for 2 years during the Korean War. He served on numerous boards in this area and retired from farming and ranching in 1999.
His wife, Bertha and his parents preceded him in death.
On June 6, 1989 he was married to Donna Janelle (Story) Schlager.
Survivors are his wife, Donna; two sons, Don J. and wife Colleen (Schlager) of rural McCook; Randy M. and wife Pam (King) of Johnstown, Colorado; one step-son, Russell Schlager and wife Bev (Hein) of rural McCook; five grandchildren, Alisha Fahnholz and husband Mitch of Justin, Texas, Luke Olson of Grand Island, Tanner Olson of Johnstown, Colorado, Chance Olson of Spokane, Washington, Ashley Johnston and husband Casey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four step-grandchildren, Ryan Rasmussen, Jake Schlager, Joe Schlager and Zach Schlager of McCook; one great-grandson, Kaleb; one sister, Muriel Miller of Lincoln; Aunts, Ada Remington and Phyllis Marsh of McCook, Freda Olson of Grand Island and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 29th at 10:30 A.M. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Pastor Lance Clay officiating. Inurnment took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
