In 1860, Peter Hill's farm was located about 1 mile northeast ofCongr u i ty, PA. He died between 1880 and 1890. Could the father of Peter H i l l be Peter Hill of Franklin Twp., who diedJan 17, 1880 at age 94? He w o u ld have been born in 1786. Doubtful. The1840 Census indicates tha t P e ter Hill was "Jr." However he was notthe son of Peter Hill of Fra nk l in Twp. b. abt. 1791 and married toCatharine b. abt 1810. He is prob a b ly the one above. No other Peters arelisted in the 1840 Index. O n t h e same page of the 1840 Census we see a head: Katherine Hill with3 f e m ales total as follows- 1 female age 20-30; 1 female 50-60; 1 femaleag e 8 0 -90. We don't know which one was Katherine. The older females might be w i dows, mother and grandmother? A Peter Hill is listed in the 1790Ce nsu s o f Franklin Twp.. A Catharine Hill (widow) is in the 1810 Censusof F r a nklin Twp., age 45-up. A widow Hill in the 1820 Census ofFranklinTwp. A W i l l of Peter Hill of Franklin Twp. dated 1806 names wife "Catey"(Cathar i n e) and son Peter. Peter Jr. was born abt. 1812. His father could b e t h e Peter Hill listed in the 1800 Census forWestmoreland Co. That one i s n o t listed in 1810 and 1820.
