Death
KOCH RONAge 82, of Upper St. Clair, on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Cherished husband of Lorayne (Conway) Koch; proud father of Diane of St. Paul, MN and Dean (Donna) of Chagrin Falls, OH; adored Gramps to Brendan and Grampap to Max and Maria Koch; loving brother of Nancy (George) Bierer of Wilmington, NC and dear uncle to Cindy Geppert, Martin, Andrew and Steven Bierer. After a successful career in industrial sales which enabled him to travel the worldwide, he turned his attention to his favorite town: Pittsburgh. In his semi-retirement, he loved telling visitors at Visit Pittsburgh about the history, beauty and character of his hometown. Ron grew up in Dormont, served as a paratrooper in the Army for three years, then went to Waynesburg College. There, he met Lorayne. They shared the good life, their favorite toast to each other, for almost 58 years. His fraternity brothers of Delta Sigma Phi remained a very important part of his life. At Lorayne's encouragement he took and passed the test for Mensa, becoming a member in the local organization. He was an avid Steelers Fan and a longtime season ticket holder. As a member of the Beadling Club, he enjoyed playing Bocce and Shuffleboard. Friends and family were very important to Ron, and it was often hard to tell the difference as he forged many lifelong friendships. 'He always makes me laugh' is a common phase used to describe Ron. He will be missed, but his impact on many will remain. Funeral arrangements entrusted to BEINHAUERS.
