Henry B. Redfern

Henry Redfern, moved with his brother, Francis Redfern (married Hester L a s h, sister of Mary Ann Lash), to Nemaha , Territory of Nebraska i n 1 8 57. Henry married Mary Ann Lash. He enlisted at Brownville, Nebras ka T e rritory, in the Army of the USA in 1862. Henry s unit was Company C , 2 n d Cavalry Regiment of Nebraska Volunteers. The Company s mission wa s t o p rotect settlers against Indian raids in the western part of the s ta te . He served for just nine months. Henry Redfern purchased farmland i n P e ru Township, Nebraska, that is still in the Redfern Family. When he d i e d at the age of 92 in October 1927, he was receiving a military pensi o n o f $65 per month.
