John M.K. Newhouse boarded with his first cousin John W. Newhouse near N e w Alexandria, Pa, around 1920. Not only did he inherit the "Newhousen o s e" but the septum deviated. One day he ordered a nose straighteningde v i ce through a mail order catalogue, which he wore at night. The device c a used him to snore loud and excessively. Much to his chagrin, hiscousi n ' s seven children teased him relentlessly and nick named him"Snorter". T h i s story was told by Josephine Newhouse. He is not found in the 19 1 0 C ensus. However there is a John M. Newhouse,boarder with Smith famil y i n S alem Twp. The age given is 25, but couldthis be a mistake? John w ou ld b e 15.
