James L. Wingo, Well-known rural Palmer resident dies
James L. Wingo, 51, who resided at Rural Route 1, Palmer, died at 11:45 o'clock Saturday morning, in St. Vincents Memorial hospital. he had been in ill health for some time, and had been a hospital patient since July 1.
Mr. Wingo was born March 23, 1923, at Benton, the son of Erva and Neoma Louchs Wingo. On March 11, 1965, he married to Betty Jean Koonce. An associate of the P&M Vending Machine Company, he was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
He is survived by his widow, six sons, James of Springfield; Robert, Kenneth, Richie and Jeffery [sic], all of Taylorville; five daughters, Mrs. Linda Sparks of Fountain Valley, Calif; Miss Debra Wingo of Santa Ana, Calif.; Sherry Wingo, Angela Wingo and Pamela Wingo, all of Taylorville; his mother, Mrs. Neoma Wingo of Taylorville; eight brothers, Curtis of Tovey; Erva, Jr. of Arkansas; Paul of Taylorville; Kenneth, Larry, Wayne and Donald all of Omaha, Neb.; and Harold of Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Davis of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs Vella Kimble of Taylorville; Mrs Ann Wilson of Auburn; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, in the Sutton Memorial Home, with the Rev. Duane Champion, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
