"MYRTIE WINGO WILLIAMS, age 101, of El Campo, died on November 13, 2002, in El Campo. She was born on December 27, 1900, in Hall Summit, LA. to Willis P. and Ida Hand Wingo. She graduated from Louisiana Normal College in Natchitoches, LA. and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth with her husband, Rev. Rhilip C. Williams, who served as pastor of Baptist churches in Texas from 1930-1952. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Campo and was active in the Gleaners Sundy School Class and taught in Vacation Bible School. She was very active in Baptist Women and in the visitiation ministry to the Garden Villa Care Center. Before moving to El Campo in 1987, she was an active member of South Main Baptist Church in Houston. She taught kindergarden at Longfellow and Andy Anderson Elementary School from 1952-1970. She was also a member of Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rev. Philip C. Williams; her sisters, Mary E. Norris and Audra W. Shelton; and three nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn W. Goelzer and husband Dr. Ronald Goelzer of El Campo; four grandchildren, Karen (and Ted) Bailey of Carrollton, Linda Goelzer of Dallas, Julianne Goelzer of Bend, Oregon and Eric (and Renee) Goelzer of Bellaire, two great-grandchildren, Amy Garrett and Riley Goelzer, and niece Joy (and Bob) Taylor of Moss Point, Miss. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday at the First Baptist Church of El Campo with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday ayt Farest Park - Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. The Pallbearers Dr. Ronald E. Goelzer, Eric Goelzer, Ted Bailey, Noel Fuller, Art Janke, and Tom McKelvey. Honorary pallbears will be The Members of the Gleaners Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church and The GardenVilla Monday Singers. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 206 Depot, El Campo, Texas 77437 or The Texas Baptist Encampment, P. O. Box 1265, Palacios, Texas 77465.
