WINGO, Col. Edmund T., b. 12/23/1818, in Amelia County, Virginia., son of John and Mary (Hutchings) Wingo. John Wingo was b. in Amelia County, Virginia in 1788, son of John Wingo, Sr., native of England. In 1829, the wife and 6 children of John Wingo, Jr., came to Missouri with her brother, Charles Hutchings, who located in Washington County, Missouri. The husband remained behind to dispose of some property and died in 1830. The same year, his widow moved to Madison County, Missouri where she died in 1832. Her children remained with the uncle until 1837 when Edmund T. went to Montgomery County, Tennessee to live with his uncle, John Hutchings. The following year, he returned to his birthplace in Virginia and lived with his uncle, William Green, who had married a Hutchings. In 1844, Edmund T. Wingo graduated from William and Mary College; then moved to Liberty, Bedford County, Virginia. In 9/1850, Edmund married Sarah Stull, who was born in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1808. They had one child, Jacob W., now of Salem, Dent County, Missouri. Edmund moved to Washington County, Missouri in 1850 with his wife and 9 negroes. In 1857 to Dent County, Missouri, where she died on 4/14/1886, and the same year, he married Lucinda E. Whelling, b. in Washington County, Missouri in 1842.

Edmund taught in the east after the Civil War then came back to Salem, Missouri as a criminal lawyer.
