Dr. Wingo was born in Nottoway County, near Burkeville, October 12, 1826. Most of his life was spent in Tennessee. He was a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and was in active service as a surgeon in the Confederate army during the entire war. He was a faithful and humble follower of Jesus.
