After their marriage they lived in the Mt. Zion Church area of Wellington. Then they lived on a farm in Campobello, South Carolina for over 60 years. He joined Bethel Baptist Church near the mountains but has been a member and deacon of Campbello Baptist Church for 50 years. Raised cotton , corn, wheat and peaches.
His father and seven brothers fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy. Their mother prayed every day at sundown that her eight sons would be spared and return safely home. They returned safely.
