Obituary in the "Religious Herald", a Baptist Newspaper published in Richmond, Virginia

"JUNIUS F. WINGO Another of the cosnstituent members of the West End Baptist church, Petersburg, has fallen on sleep---Bro. Junius F. Wingo. Bro. Wingo was born in Amelia county, Va., March 10, 1854. He made profession of faith in Christ when fourteen years old, and was baptized into the fellowship of Union Baptist church by Rev. Samuel T. Adkins. Moving to Petersburg, he at once united with the First Baptist church. Shortly after the West End Mission was established he identified himself with that work, and was at one time librarian of the school. On March 8, 1882, he married Miss Alexina Ford, on of the teachers in the Mission. He entered the church at its organization, March 31, 1882, and has been identified with the work eversince. About six years ago he moved to a point in the city some distance from the church, and the exacting duties of is position with the Norfolk and Western Railroad made it difficult for him to attend the church servicies, but he continued to contribute to its support.
Bro. Wingo attended to business with the strict integrity. He was an employee of the Norfolk and Western Railroad to twenty four years, and was held in high exteem by the officials of that road. As evidence, they granted free passes to any of their employees who wished to attend the funeral. During the last three years he served the Atlantic Cost Line also. He was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow fraternities, and delighted in their fellowship.
He died January 13, 1905, of pheumonia, and was buried in the historic Blandford Cemetery. The funeral services, in which the secret order of which he was a member, participated, were held in the West End Baptist church, in the presence of a large congregation.
His widow, two sisters and three brothers survive him, and these have the sympathy of many friends and acquaintances.
Bro. Wingo was an honorable man, a true and devoted husband, and a highly respected citizen. He has gone from the earthly life to the larger life beyond. He has been taken from the fellowship of the church militant to that of the church triumphant. (Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever livieth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?) J. R. DOAN, PASTOR"
