Served as a 4'th Corporal during the Cherokee Indian removal from Alabama. He enlisted in Fort Payne, DeKalb County, Alabama for a term of twelve months (served less than four months) in the Army. Alabama Volunteers-Foot Infantry under Captain James Lamar. He was discharged at Fort Payne, Alabama on July 22, 1838.

His bounty warrant file number (NNRG) 55-120-85989 and bounty warant numbers 85989 for 120 acres of land and 5787 for 40 acres of land.
