THE ANNANIAS WALLACE FAMILY
It is my belief that William Wallis and Annanias Wallace were brothers or first cousins. There have very good yDNA matches between the two families.
Do not let Wallace/Wallis be a problem in your research. Clerks used Wallace, Wallis, Wallas, Wallice etc. and sometimes used as many as three variations in the same document. Use the name you are comfortable with but realize that clerks used the spelling that THEY were comfortable with and possibly not the spelling the family used.
Check the Wallace/WALLIS DNA Project at Http://www.familytreedna.com/Public/WallaceDNA/ . Our Wallis/Wallace Family male line (yDNA) Haplogroup is I-BY48.. The William Wallis decendants #'s are 8166, 73077, 74882, 76071 and 5081 and the Ananias Wallace descendants #'s are 134793, 74323, 192299 and 244699. We welcome additional yDNA members and wish you luck in matching your Autosomal DNA cousins at Familytreedna.com, Ancestry.com, 23andme.com or other DNA companies..
Annanias Wallace was listed on Jackson County Tax Digests in 1831, 1832, and 1834. Although he aquired his land in 1817 he did not morve from Greenville County SC until around 1830 so someone else occupied his land and paid his taxes until that time. Can anyone answer that question? Others Wallaces paying taxes and living near Annanias were Thomas, James, Rachel, Charles and William. Allso, John and his son Absoleom lived near Annanias but I know that they are a different y-DNA line although they have assumed they were family. . Does anyone know the y-DNA Haplogroup for Thomas, James, Rachel's husband Charles and William?
