Received wound to arm at Battle of Jonewboro, was home on furlough at end of war. Was paroled in Atlanta ( his company surrounded in Nashville)
He recieved a military pension. The pesion was for infirmity and poverty.
On Catherine's wiows pension application, James W. Edmunds verfied his service and stated "No better soldier ever carried a gun than G. W. Tarrance".
