Death

Will of George Greenwell dated Sept. 17, 1782 filed Mar. 2, 1785 Liber JJ #1. Folio 300.
"In the name of God amen? I George Greenwell, of St Mary's County, MD., being sick of body but sound of mind, memory and understanding, being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and thereby be better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence; so therefore make and publish my last will and testament in manner and form following; that is to say first and principally, I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the descretion of my executors therein after named and after my debts and and funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows;
Item I give and bequeath to loving daughter Elizabeth Greenwell, one bed and furniture, one cow and calf, the second best.
Item I give and bequeath to loving daughter Ann, one bed and furniture, her choice of all my beds, also one cow and calf, her choice of all my cattle.
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Ann Newton, four sheep and I intend this to be her full part in my whole estate.
Item I give to my loving son, John Greenwell, one shilling sterling which I intend to be his full part of my estate.
Item I give and bequeath after the death of my beloved wife, all the land I now possess in manner and form following; that is to say to be equally divided amongst my five sons, that is to say Nicholas Greenwell, Ignatius Greenwell, Joseph Greenwell, Justinian Greenwell and Bennet Greenwell, but if either of the afore mentioned sons offers to sell their part with out the privy consent of the others, his share shall descend to be equally divided among the others.
Item My will and desire is all the remainder of my estate shall be equally divided among my five sons and two daughters that is to say, Nicholas, Ignatius, Joseph, Justinian, Bennet, Ann & Elizabeth Greenwell, to them and their heirs forever.
In testimony whereof I have unto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of September Anne qu Domini one thousand seven hundred and Eighty?two. Lastly, I do nominate, constitute and appoint my beloved sons, Nicholas and Ignatius whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament".

St Mary's County, this 2nd day of March 1785, Then comes Henry Wimsett and William Cooper, two of the three subscribing witnesses to the within last will and testament of George Greenwell, late of St Mary's County, dec'd, and severally made oath on the Holy Angles of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein sign and seal this will and that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare same to be his last will and testament; that at the time of his doing he was to the best of his apprehension of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that they respectively subcribe their names as witnesses to the will in the presence and at the requeat of the Testator and in the presence of each other and also that
