1859 GUARDIANSHIP - In September 1859, David is given guardianship over some of his sister Elizabeth’s children
"Complete Record Book 1, Common Pleas Court. Pg 207. Elizabeth Worland, David Newton as the guardian of Alfred, Elizabeth and Thomas Worland and Robert Worland as the guardian of Vincent, William, Mary Ann, Nancy, John M. and Francis Worland in a petition for a partition of real estate. Elizabeth stated that she married Sebastian Worland in 1850 and that he died November 27, 1858 in Liberty Twp. Three children were Sebastians by a former marriage and the others, that is: Vincent, William, Mary Ann, Nancy, John M., David and Francis were his marriage to Elizabeth. At his death Sebastian owned real estate in section 13, township 12, range 7 of 47 acres. Elizabeth was set off the one third value of the land including the dwelling and the children were set off the remainder. Sept. 1859

Nov 1871 GUARDANSHIP - Made Guardian of Constantine Newton. Constantine is David's half brother. A son of Joseph P. Newton and Elizabeth (Zell) Newton.

Sep 1873 BIOGRAPHY - D. K., and family came to Kansas in September, 1873, locating in Osage Mission, where he went into the stock business as dealer, with J. Quinlin, and in 1875, March 3, located on their present farm. In 1877 Mr. Newton died and the boys took charge of the estate, farming in stock and grain, succeeding very well, the corn raised in 1882 averaging fifty bushels to the acre. The farm is well improved with a fine orchard of apple and peach trees. The family consists of two boys and three girls and Mrs. Newton. There are seven children deceased.
David was a delegate to the Democratic County Convention from Marion Township.

1877 DEATH - n 1877 Mr. Newton died and the boys took charge of the estate....
