Feb 20, 1732 from John Woodman of CC, planter, and Sarah, his wife, one of the daughters and co-heirs of George Newman, late of CC, decd, to John Harris Jr of CC, planter. Nicholas Guyther, late of St Mary's County, Gent, .. Sep _, 1665, by his deed (recorded in Provincial Records Liber FF folio 119), sold to George Newman, 3 tracts of land in CC on the north side of Potomack River, which tract containing 100 acres .. now in the possession of Rand° Brandt and Jacob Brandt .. sd George Newman .. above ---- Woodman, Eliza Williams .. sd George Newman .. Jno Woodman & Sarah, his wife .. partition of sd .. to 4 equal parts .. recorded CC Liber M folio 235 & 236 .. bounded by .. to the land of the afd Rand° and Jacob Brandt, thence to the beginning. Now this deed witnesses that sd John Woodman and Sarah, his wife, for 10,000 lbs of tobacco to him in hand paid by the afd John Harris, and for divers other good causes, have sold to sd John Harris, the 75 acres of land aforementioned, to be possessed in severalty by sd John Woodman and Sarah, his wife, according to the metes and bounds thereof herein before expressed. To have and to hold, the 75 acres, to John Harris. Signed-John Woodman, Sarah ( her mark) Woodman, Wit-Jno Howard*, Robt Yates*.
I acknowledge to have received of the within named John Harris, the sum of 10,000 lbs of tobacco, being the consideration within mentioned. Signed Feb 17, 1732-John Woodman.
Page 336. At the request of Thomas Harris of CC, the following deed was recorded this May 25, 1733.
Mar 12, 1732/3 from John Harris of CC, planter, to Thomas Harris of CC. John Woodman and Sarah, his wife, of CC, on Feb 17; 1732/3, by deed, sold a certain parcel of land laid out for about 75 acres, part of a tract of land laid out for 300 acres, being sd Sarah Woodman's part, as co-heir, to sd 300 acres, as by a certain instrument of writing dated Mar 6, 1729, and recorded in CC L. M folio 235 & 236, may appear, by means of which partition, sd John Woodman and Sarah, his wife, came possessed in severalty of the 75 acres, part of the 300 acres above mentioned. The 75 acres is bounded by Guys Branch, sd branch & river [unnamed], the land of Randolph and Jacob Brandt. Now this deed witnesses that sd John Harris, for "the great love" and for divers other good causes and for 5 shillings, has given the 75 acres, to be possessed in severalty by sd John Woodman and Sarah, his wife, according to the metes and bounds thereof herein before expressed.
