p.149: John Douglas 6 Sept 1744. Joseph Douglas of Charles Co. gent. for love of son Joseph Douglas now a minor originally "Bowler" now "Douglass Clame" 114 a lines Thomas Hanes land where I now live, house, 80 acres, negro (2 tracts). Wit: George Dent & Wm Clary.

Page 149. At the request of John Douglass, the following deed was recorded on Sep 6, 1744.
I, Joseph Douglass of CC, Gent, for the natural love I have for my son, John Douglass of CC, have given him all that tract of land, originally Bowles land, now called Douglass' Clame, containing 514 acres, adjoining the land of Thomas Harriss. Also, all that tract of land and plantation whereon I now live, containing about 60 acres. Also, 1 Negro boy called Jack and my writing desk. John Douglass is only to possess the above land and chattels after my death or with my leave. Signed - Joseph Douglass. Wit - Geo Dent, Wm Clary.
