Claimant alleges gun shot wound of left shoulder received at Reseca GA May 15 1864. Capt of said Co certifies that said Hoffman was wounded at Reseca Ga May 15 1864 while in line of duty....discharged because of gunshot fractureand desection of entire middle third of ulna of left arm from wounds..... admitted March 8 1865 @ $8.00 per month.... died 29 Aug 1896 , widow pension for Caroline on 6/14/1889 raised to $36.00 she died Nov 26 1905 2. Office of County auditor, Stearns Co MN: I OJ Gruber, County Auditor of said County and state do hereby certify that the records in my office show the following described property to be issued in the anme of George K Hoffmann Lot 12 in auditors subdivision SW 10-126-34 $40.00 N 8 rods of E 10 rods of Lot 4 in R Moores addition of out lots to Sauk Centre $480.00 I further certify that no other property either personal or real is issued to him in the records of my office... I find there is neither Personal property or Real estate issued to Mrs Caroline Hoffman in said county for the year 1896. 3. State of Mn County of Stearns.ss in the pension claim of caroline Hoffman Personally came before me a notary public for said county and state, Mary Hoffman aged 75 years of age, a citizen of the City of Sauk Centre, Stearns County, Minnesota well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit who being each duly sworn declares in relation to aforesaid case as follows: George R Hoffman was a brother of my husband. I was well and personally acquainted with him for more than forty seven years he was married to Caroline Coffman on the 6th day of June Ad 1850 at about 3 miles wes of Columbus, Bartholomew county, Indiana. Caroline Coffman now Caroline Hoffman widow of George R Hoffman now deceased is still living and lived with said George R Hoffman until his death. and Caroline Coffman was married in my presence a cordin to law . Hoffman ....On Oct. 18, 1852, Thomas and Eliza Lawton deeded land for the cemetery to Alexander Records, John C. Hoffman and Thomas Lawton, Trustees of Harmony Burying Ground Assn. There is a marriage record here for George Hoffman and Caroline "Coughman" (actually Coffman), June 5, 1850. This couple is listed on the 1850 census, Harrison Tp., family 471/471, spelled Huffman on census. The only family graves at Lawton/Harmony are for 3 children of George and Caroline, 1855, 1869 and 1875.
