The Gideons moved to Iowa where they remained about six years when they removed to Minnetonka, Minnesota. The family was living at Minnetonka at the time of the Indian outbreak and George Gideon enlisted in the army. He was killed by Indians who ambushed his company while it was being transferred from one camp to another.
