IGNATIUS HARDEY (Ca. 1700-___)
Ignatius Hardey was named as the third son, the sixth child, in the 1718 will of William Hardey. He was one of the three children to have benefited in his father's will which left him fifty acres of the dwelling plantation called "Dividing Run" at the decease of William's wife Elizabeth.
Ignatius is shown in the List of Taxables for 1733 in Upper Piscataway Hundred along with George and William.
November 26, 1735: John Magruder and his wife Susanna convey to Ignatius Hardy 100 acres, part of Casteal.
His marriage record has not been located. The Piscataway, St. John's Register shows a son Baptist born 1753 to Ignatius and Rebecca Hardey. Rebecca Hardey, apparently a widow by 1776, is shown in the census for that year in St. John's Parish as age 62, making her born about 1714 and an age fitting to have been the wife of Ignatius. George, age 16, was living in her home at that time.
Rebecca Hardey left a will in 1796 naming all her children:

Witnesses on the will were Alexander Soper, Robert Soper, and Benoni Soper.
Jesse, son of Ignatius Hardey, married Sarah Wheat in 1786. Their son, Henry W. Hardey, married Maria Wilson Smoot, daughter of the Rev. Charles Smoot and Ann (Egerton) Smoot, buried at Trinity Church, St. Mary's City. The stone which marked the grave of the Rev. Charles Smoot is one of four placed in the floor of St. George's Episcopal Church at Valley Lee, Maryland.
