Benjamin Burson

(4 Feb 1797 - 2 Dec 1887)

Benjamin Burson, first son of George and Susannah Kent Burson, was bom Feb. 4, 1797, at Leesburg, Loudoun County, Va., into a home of Quaker faith, which he followed all of his life.
From all reports, and my personal knowledge of him, in his old age, Benjamin was an unusual man, possessor of a remarkable memory. Possessing the ability to
recite, and being quite a historian, having lived his life during the stirring times of his country's development, he was well versed in American history and delighted in recounting dates, battles, and incidents which occurred during the Revolution, War of 1812, and the Civil War. He was well versed in the law having been Justice of the Peace of the township for many years. When I saw him in 1880 he was 84 years
old, and because of his legal training and experience his advice was still sought after by the people of the community.

Benjamin was of large physique, having been a powerful man in his prime. He lived on a farm near Rogers, Columbiana County, Ohio, with his daughter Nancy
