Event

He resided in Hampshire County, Massachusetts, in 1777, in which year he was a soldier in the Continental Army under Captain John Hamilton and Col. John Moseley for the Defense of Newport;* he also served under Col. Nathan Sparrowhawk at Saratoga.

He afterwards removed to New Brunswick, with his nephew Ebenezer Slocum , arriving at St. John by the ship Union in 1783^ He was a large muscular man and possessed the strength of a giant.
