Corinne Hanna Diller writes that the legend says that Thomas ran away to sea at age 11. c 1630 supposed to be in VA. Ann, his wife, was transported to St. Mary's Co, MD in 1637. she was not designated as a servant. Thomas is said to have followed William Claiborne, in his trading expeditions up the Chesapeake Bay, and then settled in ST. Mary's Co, as a Protestant planter. As a trade, he went back and forth between MD and VA. His childrent were presumed to have been born in MD, but most were in England during the 1670's.
