Birth

He was brought up by Susannah Hooker, widow of the Rev. Thomas Hooker of Hartford, to whom he was bound out at the age of seven years with provision for his education, his father at that time "being resident in Hocanum."

Event

He settled in Middletown with his father, and joined the church there at its first organization in 1668.

Death

He died suddenly, leaving a nuncupative will in which he mentions his wife Mary, sons William, Jacob and Ebenezer, and daughter Experience. The inventory of his estate includes a "house, orchard and 20 acres of land at Wongon," which shows that at the time of his death he was living on the east side of the Connecticut River, or had prepared to remove there. His estate amounted to £415.
