Abraham Doolittle, the Puritan, was the progenitor of all the Doolittles in America who claim early Connecticut ancestry. He spelled his name Dowlittell.

came from England with the first settlers of New Haven. Was a member of the Village Committee, to manage the affairs of the settlement of Wallingford, 1670. His house was protected by a Picket Fort, against an attack by the Indians, then expected from King Phillip of the Pequod (Wampanoag Tribe).
