Descendants of William A. Travis (1745-1789)
This tree is a working tree of descendants of William Travis born about 1745 in the British Isles and his wife Mary. Some published articles and books indicate that William was from Wales, Scotland, or England but it looks like he may have been from Lancashire, England.
We know William, his pregnant wife and two children sailed to America in 1774. Their third child William G. Travis was born 27 October 1774 at sea just before they reached America. Over the next few years, the family grew with three more children, and they initially settled in Huntington County, Pennsylvania.
This tree is an attempt to identify and trace the descendants of William and Mary to the Mid-1900s. I decided to stop in the mid-1900s as many people born in the last half of the 1900s are still living and would need to be privatized in any on-line tree.
Information on living people has been privatized.
This is a working tree. I have compiled it from a variety of sources including Census records, published obituaries, FindAGrave sites, and other on-line sources. I know that some of these sources may be incorrect or mis-interpreted. I am currently working to correct errors and find additional lines of descent.
