Death
Buried at the Gettysburg National Cemetery; Plot Wisconsin, Section D, Site #2.Spencer M. TRAIN served as a Sergeant in Co. C of the 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the Civil War.
He suffered a compound fracture of his left leg on 1 July 1863, the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg. He died on 25 August at Letterman General Hospital and was initially buried the next day in Section 6, Gave #5 of the hospital's cemetery.
He enlisted in the army on 22 April 1861 as a private and he was subsequently promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant on unknown dates. He was captured at Groveton, Virginia on 28 August 1862. He was then wounded at Fredericksburg, Virginia on 11 December 1862.
He was single and had resided at Muscoda, Wisconsin.
