Biographical Sketch
Joshua Allan LIPPINCOTT was a clergyman and fourth chancellor of the University of Kansas (1883-89). He attended the following schools: Pennington Seminary, Dickinson College, Franklin and Marshall College (D.D.) and the University of Michigan (LL.D.).Taught at: mathematics and German at Pennington Seminary, and mathematics and astronomy at Dickson College.
He was the Superintendent of public schools in Scranton, PA.
In 1865 he was admitted to the Wyoming conference of the Methodist Episcopalian Church, filling the pulpit of Asbury Church, Hackensack, NJ, in 1889 he accepted the pastorate of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Topeka, KS, and then the Arch Street Methodist Episcopal Church of Philadelphia, PA.
