"John was born 19 October 1720 in Northampton, NJ. He died of smallpox while attending a Quaker meeting in York, England.
He is credited as being the first person that was an advocate for the abolition of slavery. He kept a journal of his travels to Quaker meetings in the eastern part of America and Benjamin Franklin published it in 1754. The Harvard Classics printed it in 1910 in volume one."
