Notes
Birth
The September 1850 census of East Allentown, Lehigh, PA lists Reuben as 15 years of age at the time of the census. The 9 June 1860 census of 1st Ward, Borough of Allentown, Lehigh, PA lists Reuben RAUB as being 24 years old and a carpenter.
Marriage
The Lehigh County Historical Society, Lehigh, PA has on file the record for the marriage of Reuben RAUB and Sarah SAVITZ, both of Allentown, Lehigh, PA, on 6 July 1856 by Rev. Jager, as announced in the Allentown German language newspaper, Friedens Bote. A copy was sent to Kristina (WEIS) NEWCOMER.Occupation
Reuben RAUB's occupation as listed on the 1860 Federal Census for Allentown, Lehigh, PA was a carpenter.Military
The Pennsylvania State Archives information on Reuben RAUB's military record conflicts with the 1890 Special Census of the United States (Surviving Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines, and Widows, etc.) that lists Reuben as being a member of Co. D 43rd PA Volunteer Infantry from June 1863 to August 1865. One may assume that the census taker misheard or miswrote or that Reuben misspoke. In any case, I will use the official record from the PA State Archives (41st Volunteer Militia, Co. D) as the correct information.City Directory
