John Paul BARRINGER (Baringer, Beringer), came from Germany to PA in 1743, settled at Mt. Pleasant, NC, ca. 1750, where he built the family home, "Poplar Grove"; magistrate of the crown; captain of the colonial militia in American Revolution, suffered long imprisonment at Camden, SC; member of the NC Legislature.
