Religion
Elizabeth (LANCASTER) McCARTY was raised a Quaker and when she married Thomas McCARTY in 1766, she was disowned by the Richland M.M. for marrying without the consent of the meeting.On the 29th of May 1784, Elizabeth applied for reinstatement as a member of Richland Monthly Meeting, and was received along with her minor children.
In 1794, the entire family took certificates from the meeting at Richland to the Exeter M.M., Berks, PA.
Marriage
They married without the consent of the Richland Monthy Meeting and Elizabeth was disowned in Feb 1766.Endnotes
