Marriage
"Whereas there hath been an intention of marriage duly published according to the laws or customs of the Province of West New Jersey or Nova Cesaria in America and also at several of our mens and womens meetings of the people called Quakers held in Burlington is said province between Samuel LIPPINCOTT of the township of Evesham and Hope WILLS of Northampton both of the County and Province aforesaid . . . approved by the said meetings and consent of parents and relations . . . Know these are to certify to all whom it may concern that on the seventeenth day of the fourth month in the year according to English account one thousand seven hundred and eight . . . in the township of Northampton, County of Burlington did Samuel LIPPINCOTT and Hope WILLS become husband and wife." [paraphrased]Witnesses included: John Wills, Hope Wills, Thomas Lippincott, Daniel Wills Sr. and Jr., Judith Lippincott, Restore Lippincott, Freedom Lippincott, Samuel Lippincott, James Lippincott, Jacob Lippincott, Hannah Lippincott, Mary Wills, Elizabeth Lippincott, Elizabeth Wills and Mary Wills Jr.
