Amos HIATT was born in Guilford, NC, 20 Apr 1811, and came to Randolph county as early as 1832. He was a blacksmith and farmer. He was married twice; the first time to Miss Hannah BALES by whom he had five children, three of whom are still living: Louisa, Evaline and Samuel. His second wife was Miss Martha ROBERTS, whom he married in 1847. Her father, James ROBERTS, now resides with her at the age of seventy-eight years. Mr. HIATT had seven children by his second wife, six of whom are living: Hannah C., Calvin, Charles, Allen, Almeda and Della. Amos HIATT died in Nov 1873. Hannah C. is married to William T. RESZELL, who is now superintending the farm. They have one child; Olive Myrtle.
