Sammie Furr, 81, of Indio died Feb. 15, 2004, in Rancho Mirage. He was born June 29, 1922, to Samuel Furr and Maggie Summers in Henrietta, Okla. He was an agricultural dispatcher at SunWorld for 10 years and served in the Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of the Indio Moose Lodge, and a past member of the Indio Elks Lodge and the America Legion in Desert Hot Springs and Idyllwild. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Cohn of Indiana; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, with a memorial service at 3 p.m. at FitzHenry Funeral Home Desert Chapel. Burial will be private at Riverside National Cemetery with FitzHenry Funeral Home Indio in charge of arrangements.The Desert Sun, Palm Springs, California, February 19th, 2004
