Death
OKMULGEE — Funeral services for Odis C. Furr, a former Okmulgee County assessor are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church here. Burial will be in Okmulgee Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being directed by Buchanan-Wise-McClendon Funeral Home. Furr, who died Tuesday in a Tulsa hospital after a brief illness, was 65. He retired in January after serving for 16 years as assessor. Furr worked for Phillips Refining Co. and Eagle Picher Smelting Co. before becoming assessor. His father, Benjamin C. Furr, served as chairman of the Board of County Commissioners during the 1930s. His brother, Manuel Furr, and his sister, Juanita Furr Inglish, also served as county clerks. Furr’s grandfather, Arthur Furr, established the first post office in Henryetta. Furr was a member of the First Christian Church and the Okmulgee Lions Club. In addition to his sister and brother, he is survived by his wife, Helen French Furr; four daughters, Mary Jane Buck of Tulsa, Judy Corpier of West Memphis, Ark., Kay Furr and Sue Haynes, both of Okmulgee; another brother, B.C. Furr of Bartlesville; another sister, Bee Hardin of Ada, and six grandchildren.
