Death
Sherron “Chip” Furr Phillips, 38, of Englewood, died Tuesday in the Venice, Fla., Hospital of cancer. Her husband is Vernon Phillips, formerly of Salisbury and a retired Maryland State Police sergeant. Born in Madison, Wisc., she was a daughter of Charles Furr of Winter Park, Fla., and the late Virginia Robertson Furr. She had worked for the past 10 years as a dental hygienist. Surviving in addition to her husband and her father are a son, Mitchell Portervint, Englewood; her stepmother, Gloria Furr, Winter Park; a brother, C. Gregory Furr, Tallahassee, Fla., and two sisters, Lynn Hammett, Venice, and Leslye Meffert, Summerfield, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Englewood United Methodist Church and interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Park here. Contributions may be made in the memory of the deceased to the American Cancer Society.
