Death
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved husband and father, Lesten Lamar Douberley, Jr. who passed peacefully at Haven Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Lesten is survived by his devoted wife, Audrey; his children, Breanna Douberley (Bradley Furr) and Chad Douberley; and his cherished grandchildren, Addalynn Furr, Jackson Douberley, Bailey Douberley and Rafy Ortiz. Lesten was predeceased by his father, Lesten Lamar Douberley, Sr., his mother, Cleo Douberley Harvey, and his sister, Diane Mckranie. Lesten spent his younger years on a ranch in Samsula and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1960. He entered the United States Marine Corps in March 1962, serving until June 1967. He completed three tours in Vietnam, where he was recognized as a Rifle and Pistol Expert, and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Upon returning home, Lesten joined the Florida Highway Patrol, where he dedicated 35 years of service before retiring. While we are deeply saddened by his passing, we are comforted in knowing how loved, respected, and admired he was by so many. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, where his ashes will be laid to rest with honor. All who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Sonny's BBQ nearby to share memories and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Marion County Memorial Honor Guard in Ocala, Florida.Endnotes
