Notes
Death
Robert Paul "Bear" Furr, 63, of Republic, Missouri, passed away on November 17, 2025. Born on March 12, 1962, in Alexandria, Virginia, Robert lived a life defined by hard work, deep connections with family and friends, and a generous spirit that touched many. Known affectionately as "Bear," Robert spent his entire professional life as an over-the-road truck driver-a career that spanned an impressive 50 years. From the time he was old enough to take the wheel until his final days, he found purpose and pride in the open road. His dedication to his work was unwavering; trucking wasn't just a job for him-it was a way of life. Robert had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever he had the chance. He also loved playing pool and could often be found sharing laughs around a table with friends. Known for being a joker and always having fun, Robert brought lightness and laughter wherever he went. His sense of humor was matched only by his willingness to help others-he was always there to lend a hand when someone needed it. In the final chapter of his life, Robert experienced a profound spiritual transformation. Just one month before his passing, he was saved at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Pastor Van made a special trip to visit him after learning that Robert had not yet been saved. Their close relationship made this moment especially meaningful. Following this experience, Robert began attending Eastside Baptist Church.Robert is survived by his loving wife, Cindy (Crook) Furr; his son, Robert Furr; step-son Dustin Gregg; step-daughter Dixie Paul; nine grandchildren who brought joy into his life; and his brother Joe Furr. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Morris Furr, and mother, Christine (Browning) Furr. Robert's memory will live on through those who knew him-his laughter echoing in stories shared around campfires or pool tables, and his kindness remembered by all who were fortunate enough to receive it. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
