Death
Nancy Ellen Lee Moorman passed away at the age of 71 in her Knoxville, TN home on March 5, 2026 surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on June 14, 1954 in Evansville, IN to parents Virgil and Eva Lee. She graduated from Harrison High School where she met Russell Moorman, who would later become her husband of 48 years until his death in 2025. A University of Tennessee graduate, attending college in Knoxville gave Nancy a lifelong love of the Smoky Mountains, often spending family vacations there. Her career was spent in deaf education and as an elementary school teacher in Indiana and Florida before eventually retiring to East Tennessee. The most important part of Nancy's life was her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, which she shared with all around her. Dedicated to prayer and hospitality, Nancy greatly enjoyed hosting meals and welcoming all into her home and garden. Always an avid gardener, Nancy enjoyed growing vegetables and plants to share wherever she lived; she loved animals and nature. Nancy was glad to spend her final years in Knoxville among family and friends. Nancy was preceded in death by husband, Russell Furr Moorman; father, Virgil Owen Lee; and mother, Eva Lautenschlager Lee. She is survived by sisters, Carolyn (Warren) Hoyt and Diane (Rick) Kraft; brother, Jim (Terri) Lee; daughter, Christina (Rodrigo) Silva; and sons, Russell (Rachel) Moorman II and James (Chelsea) Moorman. She was loved by six grandchildren who called her "Grandma" and "Meemaw": Claire, Aedan, Sarah, Daniel, Logan, and Ezekiel. She was aunt and cherished friend to many. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Old North Abbey Anglican Church with Father Aaron Wright officiating, followed by a reception at the church for family and friends.
